Bowie (Boo or Boo-Boo), probably 5-7 years old, doesn’t really know that name yet. He has become very sweet and affectionate with us. He enjoys head rubs and ear scratching. He may have not previously been an indoor dog. At our house, he has learned about doggy doors, comfortable dog beds and open door crates. He has two small hairless spots or scars on his butt that the vet said could be from being in a too small crate for extended periods of time. He doesn’t mind being crated although you may have to push him in. Other times he chooses to lounge in a crate on his own, and he has selected a favorite one at our house. We do crate him at night. So far we have not seen Bowie get on our furniture even though it is allowed in our home and his foster siblings are on the couches and chairs.
Bowie is VERY strong, and he can really put on his brakes or accelerate without warning. It is safer to wrap a leash around his middle for extra control. Be careful opening exterior doors as he can slip through in an instant and may be hard to recapture. He responds well…. backs away… to “STAY” or “NO” before you open the door.
. All of our dogs, including Bowie, enjoy dog treats… Smart Bones, Milk Bones, training nibbles.
Unlike our dogs, Bowie sometimes seems to watch TV, especially if dogs are barking on the screen. He is generally content laying on our back porch or trotting around the yard. He hasn’t seemed interested in climbing in our water tubs in the backyard, but maybe as the weather continues to warm up. We have extra latches and hooks on our gates in case this strong boy (or our others) gets too curious about something on the other side. He hasn’t been a digger or a jumper thus far.
Bowie is a smallish GSP/Pointer at about 40 pounds and he has a cute, freckled snout. He wants to please. It may take him a few weeks to get to know you and get accustomed to a new place, but Bowie could be your loving companion, if given the chance.
