Cyrus (West Texas)

Hi Everyone - I AM Cyrus! I have been chilling with my foster while they get to know me. Well, they know me and we are ready to report about me. It’s time for my new home - is that yours?

Let’s start with the basics… I am estimated to be 8 years old and have a lot of life left in me! I am neutered, up-to-date on my shots and HW negative. My life before rescue wasn’t so great. I have some large scars and a piece of my nose is missing but I survived all that and am ready to move on to greener backyards - like YOURS! I likely lived outside and spent little time indoors as I needed potty training (I am at about 80%!). I sleep all night in a crate. Am I thrilled about it - not really but I don’t fuss much, after all I am an indoor dog now! I do enjoy a little couch time and really like my dog bed (I likely didn’t have one previously - what a great invention).

I live with other dogs and human kids (8 & 11). I get along well with all. I have been seen growling at the other male dog here - if he gets too interested in a toy that I have. My foster limited us to nylabones & that seems to make me feel better. I like destroy fluffy things (dog toys, slippers, kids toys) so it’s probably a good change. I don’t see as good at night and the other dogs have startled me. I bark and maybe growl a little then I figure out it was nothing and I go back to sleep. I have lived with other dogs so I know how to get along with others. I am respectful of other dogs as they should be of me. Live and let live - that’s my motto. I will need a proper introduction and supervision initially as would any other new furry family member.

I walk well on a short lead. I am contained in the backyard with 4 foot fence but I am not left outside unsupervised. I am good about potty time. I go out, do my business then go back to the door and announce that I am done and ready to come back inside. This indoor life is pretty good.

My foster Dad has taken me out dove hunting. He shot over me with no issues and I even brought bring the doves! He says I’m a good boy!
