Harper (Dallas - Fort Worth)
Harper is a big and lovable solid liver GSP between a year and a year-and-a-half.
She is potty-trained, walks well on a leash using a training collar and loves car rides! Harper loves people and other dogs but she is still a big puppy and gets excited when meeting and greeting and will jump on new friends. She is learning though and no longer jumps on us.
Harper is looking for an active family, however, her energy level is more on a lab scale then a GSP scale. Given a nice walk or some ball-throwing time, she is content. She has a low prey drive and is not very interested in birds. She has not been around cats but perhaps that would not be a good idea.
Harper knows basic commands and is very food-driven so easily learns new things. Her nose is a just below counter-height so we have been working on leaving things alone that do not belong to her. She is already much better at leaving things alone.
She will hang out in her crate for a few hours but will bark and cry initially before settling in for a nap. Right now, she is kenneled in the house for 4-5 hours per day and not kenneled at night.
Harper is a very sweet dog and is looking for her best friend. Due to her size and her excitability, she would do best in a home without small children or other dogs unless they are her size and activity level. Although she loves the company of other dogs, she can play rough and isn’t aware of her own size so playmates should be similar sized. Right now, Harper would benefit by being an only dog and somebody’s loyal companion until she matures.
