Harper (Dallas - Fort Worth)
Harper is a big and lovable solid liver GSP between a year and a year-and-a-half old.
She is potty-trained, walks well on a leash using a training collar and loves car rides! Harper loves people and other dogs but she is still a big puppy and gets excited when meeting and greeting and sometimes jumps on new friends out of excitement.
Harper is looking for an active family, however, her energy level is mid-level compared to her GSP sister. Given a nice walk or some ball-throwing time, she is content to play with her toys or chew on a bone. She has a low prey drive and is only somewhat interested in birds. She has not been around cats. She did run away from a opossum (to the dismay of her sister)!
Harper knows basic commands and is very food-driven so easily learns new things. Her nose is a just below counter-height so we have been working on her kitchen counter skills. Also, like most puppies her age, she likes to take things like socks and clothing. She likes squeaky toys and things to chew on.
She will hang out in her crate for a few hours but will bark and cry initially before settling in for a nap. Right now, she is kenneled in the house for 4-5 hours per day for 3 days a week and not kenneled at night. She sleeps in the bed with her humans and her GSP sister. Harper is slow to wake up in the morning and likes to sleep in - especially on rainy days!
Harper is a very sweet dog and is looking for her best friend. Due to her size and her excitability, she would do best in a home without small children. She would not harm anyone or anything purposefully but she doesn’t know her own size.
Harper loves other dogs and has been accepted into doggy daycare. Although she loves the company of other dogs, she can play kind of rough. Luckily, her daycare often has good playmates for her.
Right now, Harper requires a lot of attention right now and I feel she would benefit by being an only dog until she matures. Given some patience and training, she will be somebody’s loyal companion and best friend!
