Houston Ruger (Houston)

Hello everyone! My name is Ruger, aka Rug-a-roo, and I am an 8.5 year old, 62 pound boy! I am a very good boy who hasn’t had a single accident in the house in the 3 weeks with my foster family. I don’t mind sleeping and eating in my crate, although I really prefer sleeping on the living room couch. Inside I like to carry around toys, but don’t like to destroy them or anything else in the house for that matter. My foster parents have even left me free to roam in the house for a few hours and all I did was sleep. 

 I’m very food motivated, never counter surf, and am getting better everyday about being “easy” when given treats. “Sitting” is something I know how to do well but I am still working on “staying”. 

Currently I am taking antibiotics due to a minor ear infection because of my once dirty ears! The vet even said I was the calmest GSP he has ever seen. My foster dad tells me I am good boy when taking my medicine because when he puts it in food, I always take it.

When it’s playtime, I mostly walk around the yard or stay on the shaded porch while my foster brother and sister play. I also never try to dig under or jump over the privacy fence. When we go on walks, I like to keep the leash tight, but since I’m a senior boy I don’t pull too hard. To this point I haven’t met any cats or young humans, so I’m not sure how I would react to them.

I think I’d do best in a house with doggie brothers & sisters to keep me company, or with a someone who is home a lot to give me lots of love and let me be a couch potato!
